STUDENTS (AGES 5+) – BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

VOICE – including pop, country, jazz, blues, musical theater, and classical foundations
PIANO through intermediate level – learn classical, accompaniment, pop, country, basic jazz and blues and improvisation
PERFORMANCE – work with stage jitters, preparation tools for a powerful live show
SONGWRITING & COMPOSITION – learn how to write songs and compose
MUSIC THEORY made easy!

Childhood is a magical time to begin experiencing making music. Learning musical skills helps children to develop their cognitive functioning, coordination and creative thinking. I understand that each child is unique in how they learn & grasp musical concepts. I believe in honoring their individuality and observing their process, so that we can work together in a way that makes learning fun and fruitful.I tailor lessons so that they can have fun playing the music that they want to make.

I trained specifically to work with young children with my first formal teaching job called, “Music Together.” Working in that format taught me about how young children process, as well as methods for keeping them engaged & inspired. In addition to books , I utilize exercises and games so that they can have fun while learning musical concepts.

I have also worked in after school programs for both grade schools and high schools.

General protocol includes learning to read music, practicing proper piano technique, understanding music theory, playing pop and classical repertoire, and learning specific scales / exercises that enable you to progress more quickly.

Please note that the earliest recommended age for children is 5 years old.

ADULTS – BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

It can feel overwhelming to step up at an older age and begin to learn how to sing, write or play an instrument. I get it! I didn’t begin most of my formal training until later in life. This experience gave me a unique understanding of what it’s like to learn as an adult. It’s never too late to begin.
